7 Passenger SUV Models in Different Sizes and Price Points
Smaller and more flexible options include 7 passenger crossover models such as the Grand Cherokee from Jeep, the Ford Flex, the Honda Pilot 7, the Chevy Traverse, and both the Toyota Highlander and the Toyota Sienna. Designed to retain the compact, sporty look of cars, these 7 passenger SUV models provide the same comfort and luxury of cars while providing more space for the variable needs of large families. Due to their smaller size, these SUV’s do not seat 7 in their original configuration so adjustments have to be made by purchasing and adding third row seats. They are significantly cheaper than their bigger SUV cousins though and more fuel-efficient, averaging between 13 to 14 mpg on city driving and between 19 to 20 mpg on the highway.
Large options include the GMC Yukon series, the Chevrolet Tahoe series and the Toyota Sequoia. No adjustments need to be made to these full-fledged SUV’s. They all come with 7 passenger seating with extra space for bags, luggage and sports equipment. Gas consumption is not quite as efficient though, averaging only 13 mpg for city driving and a maximum of 18 mpg on the highway.
For environmentally conscious car owners, 7 passenger SUV hybrid models are a good option. Designed with an electric motor in addition to the regular gas engine, these hybrid models are not only eco-friendly, they are extremely fuel-efficient as well. The Toyota Highlander is a good example of a 7 passenger SUV hybrid model which combines excellent performance with fuel efficiency that’s easy on the pocket and good to the environment.
These 7 passenger SUV vehicles start at about $28,000 with the price moving up based on basic specifications and features and additional options for different models. The Chevrolet Equinox is one of the most reasonably priced good-sized models offering fuel efficiency comparable to a sedan. The only downside is that the engine is not as powerful as other models. The Toyota RAV 4 is another affordable priced 7 passenger SUV, but unfortunately not as fuel-efficient as the Equinox.
A bit more expensive, but still affordable priced are the Chevrolet Traverse and the Ford Flex. Although not as fuel-efficient as the crossover models, the style and luxury of these models more than makes up for this shortcoming. The Volkswagen Tiguan on the other hand offers great interiors and exteriors at a higher price.
Finally, another option for the budget conscious would be to consider purchasing used 7 passenger SUV units that are in excellent condition. Just make sure to consider fuel efficiency even when buying a used SUV to avoid paying more in the long run.
